Summary
Steve wakes up to the fact that no one ever compliments or even says thank you to Tony, and that he has fallen into the same trap of painting Tony with a specific paintbrush. This is how he showers a very confused Tony with praise to make up for it.

Just nowI am so happy that you wrote it. I like your character writing very much . It broke my heart a little bit to read Tony perspective about his interaction with the others. So happy that Tony got a very observant Steve .thx for this beautiful story

Just nowAww, this was wonderful! I love it! Steve was so sweet! I hope you will write more of this pairing.

Just nowThis made me cry in the best way possible! I've always maintained that the most wonderful three words you can hear from another person are "You're worth it". But now, I'm also loving "I see you". Thanks for the fantastic story.

Just nowGuess I have another ship that I love :) All of the compliments Steve gave Tony made me melt inside. This was one of the sweetest fics I've read in a long time, so thank you. Watching Steve court Tony would be amazingly adorable to see!

Just nowAww This is sweet. And very intimate. Tony is such a dork, not able to accept compliments. Thank you!

Just nowI cried. Literally cried. This is an excellent depiction of all Tony's issues, of people's issues with him. Stan Lee designed him to be the hero everybody loves to hate, but at the end of the day, no matter what everyone (and he himself) says, all we really need to know is that he really is a true hero. This is an amazing look into the psychology of his character design.

Just nowThat was a really nice short story!! I really liked bashfu, clueless Tony. It was nice to see a good build up to a start of a relationship. And pepper had better get her shoes!!I hope you can find a job sooner rather than later, I've been there searching for a job sucks, specially when you've got rent and other bills and shit. Best of luck!!

Just nowI love the way you've been able to explore Tony as a man with genuine feelings and weaknesses. I always thought that there was a deeply vulnerable soul behind all those wisecracks.BTW, good luck with the job hunt. I'm also a member of the International Brigade of the Underemployed.*waves*

Just nowAwwww. *hugs Tony* From the description, I thought it would be in Steve's POV, but I actually really like it from Tony's. Your characterization of Tony is great and his "voice" just felt so real. I love that. It just flows so perfectly. And I love Steve's characterization, too. I especially like how awkwardsauce he was the first time he decided he was going to compliment Tony. I love Steve being awesome and loving and totally knowing Tony better than he knows himself, but I like to see Steve being not-so-perfect some of the time. Makes him more human. The build-up was great as Tony's reaction to the compliments moved from confused to "it must not be Steve" to actually kind of angry to hear the nice things. That really shows how messed up Tony's thinking is. Poor boy. I'm glad they got everything sorted out at the end and Tony is learning to love himself, even if he isn't totally there yet. I like happy/optimistic endings.(Sorry if this is kind of has a weird technical tone. I''m a creative writing major and all our class critiques end up so formulaic.)

Just nowI'm such a sucker for this kind of scenario. And I love flustered Tony. I loved it.

Just nowReally good sex, and I like that Steve sees through Tony's blustering. The way that he refused to stop when Tony asked him to though was uncomfortable to me - he was hurting Tony emotionally and Tony told him to stop, and he wouldn't. I know that it's supposed to be a good thing and like helping him have an emotional breakthrough, something about it squicked me out. I wonder if there's a way to tag for that, like "emotional discomfort" or "hard conversations" or "non-con praise" or something? It just seemed really emotionally manipulative for Steve to pin him on his cock and then force him to listen to things that hurt him while he couldn't escape and while he refused to listen to Tony's attempts to stop him, especially since they didn't have a safeword or anything. But like I said, I liked the sex and that Steve cares enough to try and help Tony's self-esteem.

Just now"I see you," Steve said, his thumb rubbing more tears. "I see you, Tony, and I'm falling in love with you."This absolutely made my night! All the feels and omg, this perfect line. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing one of the loveliest sex scenes ever. Much appreciated. Cheers!

Just nowWhat a fantastic little fic. Here's hoping that the happiness that you brought with this offering, is returned to you 10-fold in the form of a job you'll love. :)

Just nowOh I loved that sooo much !! The slow-build was awesome, the praise!kink was really extraordinary ;b And Tony was soo moving^^ Thanks for sharing ;b

Just nowOh, how excellent! I enjoyed how Tony just couldn't process the flattery--to the point of not even being able to say why he was uncomfortable! I do like the scene that, well... uses cock as a conversation starter. That was an interesting concept. You're right when you say that this particular instance requires a new sort of tag. Nothing really quite covers it. Perhaps embarassex? Wait, no, that sounds too much like humiliation play, and that's definitely not what this was about at all. Flattery play? I really love this exact feeling that you captured with that. I don't know if I've ever read anything with this particular topic. To restate, this work was excellent, and you are a wonderfully creative author.

Just nowHello! I just found a post on tumblr saying that leaving a comment can make the writer smile and want to write more, so here I am :) I hope you'll keep on writing, because I like your style very very much! I never thought about Tony's feelings this way and I found it very interesting. Also, his reaction to Steve's compliments is hilarious!^^ But very much in character, so good job!And I liked it when Tony couldn't understand what Steve wanted from him and thought about the sex only to be turned down and attacked a second later - you put your point across very well, but it was funny to read (maybe Tony won't agree with me ;)A fiction full of feelings and easy and funny to read, I loved it! Thanks for writing it!^^

Just nowGoddamnit! This is perfect! Now, the next stage is for Steve to convince the rest of the team to say nice things to Tony. At the end he just will HAVE to believe it. <3

Just nownicely done. i hope Steve isnt thinking there will be immediate results though. one night cant erase a lifetime of habitually internalized self-loathing and abuse. and Tony is armored in more ways than a metal shell. i dont know about anyone else but id love to see a sequel.
Avidreader6
Just nowThis was just superb. I loved it! Just wow, I wish I was able to be a bit more elaborate with my comments, but I got to the end and have never hit bookmark so fast.
Hikaru_Uchida
Just nowOMG! Thank you for writing that!! Tony really deserves compliments like that. Really, thank you for bringing justice to Tony. Love it. On the side note, great plot bunny and characters are nicely in character as well as good grammar! Job well done!

Just nowJust had to say that I adore this line:"I see you," Steve said, his thumb rubbing more tears. "I see you, Tony, and I'm falling in love with you."I read another comment that suggested the use of "you're worth it", but to me that always seems like a contraction of " you're worth the trouble" and implies that they have to put up with a lot of... well.. trouble to be with them, and some day that might no longer be the case. Whereas you're sentence to me reads as " I see who you are at the core, what makes you 'you' and I love what I see" there is no trouble in this picture, trouble is all external influences and therefore irrelevant to how much he is loved/treasured. I am not a wordsmith like yourself, so I hope my comment makes sense. I also hope you catch the sequel bug :-)

Syaoran_Lover
Just nowthis was amazingly adorable!!!! and you're so right, no one actually does recognize it... oOloved that steve took action, and tried to counteract these lasting and cruel effects. I have to point out though, that I think it would have been more effective if Steve had realized all that by himself... but... I did love that he immediately took Tony, right there. I was not expecting that... thought he would take a while... a pleasant surprise. :DI'm gonna go look for more fics like this now...
Dixing_Cake
