Interesting start. I always hated in canon that he ignored the baby, although time travel is indeed not the response anyone'd expect. His desires for the future are both heartbreaking and completely typical. Yes, Harry, you want to save everyone, including the bloody dark lord. Fun times ahead.

Oh my god, if this is Tom/Harry end game, I'm sticking around for the long haul. I really love how you added that last bit where Harry just sits at a random park and thinks about shit. I don't entirely know why but I loved reading that part.

This is a great opening chapter. I've read it before, but decided to refresh my memory before moving on to the new chapter 4.I guess that because the temporary body Voldemort had in book four was also described as a grotesque baby-like thing, and was simultaneously a homicidal S.O.B., the readers were supposed to be primed to accept the dismissal of a similar baby-like thing at the end, but it never really worked. I think partly because the seventh book ended in a ridiculous mess of poorly explained magic and religious symbolism, that it was never all that clear that what seemed to be happening was the truth, making it hard to be sure that it wasn't a baby.One small nit in this chapter: When you say, "They want to make his life into a one trick pony show? Fine.", that's a little of a mixed metaphor. You might have meant to say "a dog and pony show," an overly hyped spectacle designed to sway the masses for political or commercial reasons. A "one-trick pony" is someone who has only one talent that they overuse enough that they seem impressive and capable, but when faced with a circumstance in which their single skill doesn't apply, they turn out to be pretty useless. Even in canon, Harry is more than that, but it might be a good descriptor for Lockhart.

I love this already. Harry saying no to Dumbledore. Harry rescuing the mutilated remnant of Tom Riddle's soul in the shape of an abandoned baby. Harry telling off the Dursleys. Harry stealing Petunia's money and running away a month short of his eleventh birthday. All looks promising for an original story perhaps where Harry tries to rescue and save Tom Riddle, perhaps where he chooses Slytherin instead of Gryyfindor.
