Amazing! I'm so excited for this and I love the idea of their compatability, what with Harry's parsletongue and dracos snake summoning. Can the basilisk be their buddy or just be alive for the next year?? Basilisk + dementors is something that I've never had cause to think of but this fic is making me all sorts of imaginative. This is so cool, I'm looking forward to the next installment of their adventures!!

I absolutely adored this!!! I loved draco especially and how you've shown his development in opinions. I think it's really believable that his opinions on blood purity would change as a result of someone close to him. I also liked your explanation of the snake, I can see a little draco taking care of a snake, 'because I'm a Slytherin' sort of way. I just loved this so much!!!!!! Can't wait to read more :)

Loving this so far! I like that they didn't immediately get along, but they put aside their differences long enough to realize they kind of like each other. I like that Draco came to his conclusions about blood because of Millie and then researched the rest of Slytherin house to find out that there are "mudbloods" even in his house, but he doesn't want any of them to die. I thought it was interesting how Harry was getting fired up over Draco's parents not acting like they cared, when Draco himself knew it was all an act. I wonder if either having that mirror if Draco will learn some truths about Harry's abusive household there and what he might do about it.

I love how you're making the changes in Draco's ideology quite small and slow - as someone who was raised as a hardcore Tory, it really ties into my experience of a coming-to of realisation that the world isn't what your parents said it was. Although admittedly my epiphany came a few years later than Draco's (but I didn't have a magical soulmate to show me the way :P) Could I possibly ask though that you change the "mom" to "mum" or "mother"? It kind of threw me out of the story, it's very American - not that that's a bad thing, like, in general! I don't want to sound like a dick, but a kid raised in Wiltshire by an upper-class family wouldn't be saying it. (I hope this criticism is okay, I know you didn't ask for it but I love the story like, plot-wise and characterisation-wise and I'm really excited about the rest of it, it's just this one, like, spelling thing that jarred with me)Anyway, I'm going to subscribe, I can't wait to see what happens next!!!!!!

I have been so excited to read this soulmate fic ever since you mentioned it on your Tumblr, and now it's even cooler than I imagined! I've been wanting to read some fics in which Harry is Indian, and I'm excited to see how the fic progresses with the changes to Harry and Hermione. I was especially excited to know that you made Parseltongue part of Harry's legacy, rather than have it be some remanent of Voldemort. Plus with Abigail around, I hope we'll see Harry accept and use this skill in a way he never seemed to in the books. We saw a bit more of the Slytherin trio than the Golden trio, I was very interested to read about the small details you included that added more depth to Dracos housemates. I like how you added a quality of, "we protect our own" to the Slytherins, which I hope includes soulmates. Will Harry realize that Draco has a family that cares for him? Will Draco realize that Harry has one that doesn't?There's so many interesting interpersonal connections in this chapter and I can't wait to read the interactions in the next chapter. I've been looking forward to this story since you first mentioned it, and you do not disappoint. The two of them are simply fantastic and their dance of enemies in public and soulmates in private is as great as it is painful. Firstly, because it's certainly not going to last forever, but also just because their relationship seems rather fragile. They both *want* it to work, but a lot of the time they're just kinda- talking past each other. Their backgrounds are so radically different that they just have no concept of where the other's coming from. I really look forward to the two of them continuing to bridge that gap.I'm curious about why Harry decided to walk forward like he did? From what I recall of the scene in the book- he *was* concerned about the snake, and just generally wasn't that confident about that altercation. So what changed? Also, he clearly identifies Parseltongue as "snake's language" but has no idea of it outside of that... so he knows that he's probably the only one who will understand what he's saying if he speaks in it, and knows he can talk to snakes, and just...didn't ever look it up? Didn't think of it as magic?Although the fact that Harry's Indian and Draco's dismissive "India has over two hundred and fifty. Which wizards do you think developed the ability first? You have more of a claim to Parseltongue than either Salazar Slytherin or You-Know-Who.” was magnificent and also a much better explanation than handwavey almost-death-magic-stuff.Honestly most of what I truly deeply love about this first chapter is the way you delve into Draco's relationships- he's best friends with Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson. He at least respects Millicent, they don't seem to really be friends, tho Millie clearly is willing to put forth some extra effort by the end. He loves his parents, and they love him- and that doesn't make his father's actions anything less than reprehensible. That's important. Although frankly I adore Narcissa from everything I've seen of her so far. I mean, she threatens the world as a show of love. Also, clearly would literally let the world burn for Draco.Ginny also intrigues me a lot here, I feel like you hit on a lot of the parts of her character that make her most interesting to me. She's honestly always reminded me of a knight more than any other Gryffindor- she will fight and die and *kill* in the name of this banner she has taken up, and at the same time is down to her bones honorable. Draco saved her life, and it's important that she acknowledges that. No wimping out, no dancing around, no brushing it off- he deliberately took action to save her life, even when that may have put himself at more risk and when he was just as capable of running away. It *matters* that she acknowledges it, and it doesn't matter that he claims to hate her. That's not what this is about.Draco making sure they can communicate over the summer clandestinely and generally that conversation just tickles me, honestly. Like, he's clearly just as invested in this as Harry, but when he *shows it*, man. He does not stop at the minimum. And just he was so pleased with himself and I really like when he slips from his controlled mask into just *caring*. The first conversation with Harry(most conversations with him, lbr), talking with Millie, every time he acknowledges he doesn't want anyone to die, with his parents going home... it's just really really nice. I can't wait to see where you're going to take the rest of this story!

This is absolutely WONDERFUL! I love everything about this and I love that draco has a pet snake that harry can talk to!!

First of all, I haven't read Harry Potter fanfiction for ages. Secondly, when I did read it, my pairing of choice was Draco/Hermione. But it's you and I love your writing, so hell, whatever you're selling, I'm buying. And I was not disappointed at all. This was great. So funny and actually exciting. I love how things went differently from the CoS storyline and how being soulmates/friends with Draco changed things for Harry. I loved them both here and you'll probably hear that your characterization of them is great a lot so let me focus on a few weirder quirks of mine.I am beyond excited to see Gryffindors and Slytherins working together. I love when Pansy and Blaise are actual people and Draco's friends and I want to see them interact with Ron and Hermione so bad. I love how Ron took the news of Draco being Harry's soulmate because let's be honest, when it comes to Draco/Harry or Draco/Hermione, Ron's characterization is often the first to go out of the window. But the absolute crown goes to Ginny. I adored her scene, I half-expected Draco to shout: "You're so mean! I didn't save you! And even if I did, it was an accident!" and Ginny just cackling evilly in the background. Oh, Ginny, your Fred and George are showing. And kudos for not demonizing the Malfoys. I did expect Narcissa to be putting an act but I wasn't so sure about Lucius so! I can't wait to see how he'll act in the future, because with Draco bound to Harry, his loyalties will be not conflicted, they will be screwed. And last but not least, I may like Draco, but he still has a long way to go to become a truly decent person. And Lucius may or may not choose evil, who knows?So great read as always when it comes to you. I cross my fingers for you having the will and time to write more!
