You can also find it in Malaysia. But they're right you know. Those bananas that you westerners eat taste like crap. In my country, bananas has a variety of sizes but the most common ones are usually this short thick stubby bananas with black freckles. They taste really sweet. And then there are the ones the size of your arm. We usually made fritters out of those. I don't know if you have banana fritters though...do you?(Look at me, chattering about banana at two in the morning....my life sucks.)

saw this fic and immediately emailed my friend, "omg someone actually wrote the bananafic" because you WROTE THE BANANAFIC. and it's delightful. "lie-fruit"! "sorry i ruined all your stupid shitty bananas"! and then AWWWWWW best ending. and the sam pov is FANTASTIC. thank you for this bananafic.

Oh my god I'm actually crying with laughter. Sam's inner monologue about Bucky just slays me, looks that are "too significant" for 7am, Bucky and Steve obsessing over each other in front of him, the entire conversation about the fruit, Bucky's lack of social grace and the fact he can crush Sam's head with his hand, I'm dying here!

THIS IS BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE YOU

""Wait!" says Bucky, wide-eyed with some realization. For a moment, he sounds very earnest, almost young. "What about banana candy?" They both blink at him. "Well," he says, "it's not like the plague knocked out banana flavoring—" "Man, don't get your hopes up, banana-flavored anything is nasty," Sam tells him absently, scrolling down. "It's way too sweet and it never tastes anything like bana—" He pauses mid-syllable. "Huh.""You know, I knew this about bananas (and I was equally bemused by the idea of catastrophic fruit plagues) but this scene made me finally realize why I like banana flavored candy but not actual bananas. I thought it was just a weird personal quirk, but this makes sense!Also, I bet Steve and Bucky have similar issues with tomatoes (modern ones are bred to be more uniformly red) and watermelon (modern ones are bred to have fewer seeds) and some other stuff, too. Like, modern pigs are bred so pork is lower fat, modern chickens have been bred to have more breast meat,I'm sure there's other stuff, too.

This is so sweet and cute, and manages to be in character despite being totally not your regular post-TWS scenario. I love it, please tell me there's a second part to this? Please? I need Steve coming back from the gas station and him and Bucky talking about things awkwardly.

This is quite possibly the most adorable thing EVER. So many lines I just laughed my ass off at, but especially the Super-Soldiers Against Modern Bananas, and "You don't know any better," which gets extra points for giving me the exact look that Bucky is wearing at that moment. Fantastic stuff. :)

This was absolutely hysterical, charming, and completely perfect. I loved the 'banana flavouring' revelation, the fact that Bucky took a bite out of EVERY SINGLE BANANA before giving up, and that he erroneously assumed that Sam and Steve were in a relationship, which is... really, just fantastic. Your Sam was to die for (all of his little '... yeah, or. you know. whatever'-type comments just make my heart soar). I'm so glad that such a capable author took up gyzym's fic idea! Although I, too, hope that this fandom can in fact emerge with a "distinct little subgenre of banana stories." I live to dream.Thanks so much for writing this, and for sharing it!

This was great! I laughed and also I was like, aw cute.Also of note, the fungus that wiped out the Gros Michel bananas has a new strain that's started wiping out the Cavendishes, so enjoy your bananas while they last because they might not last much longer.

I really love this, and I love the article on bananas. Its a nice bit of natural history and political history. I was shocked to realize last summer that bananas were cheaper than zuchininis when one is local and known for super abundance and the other one is foreign and imported. Bananas like rubber trees are all going to be wiped out in a plague soon, only one variety is grown and they are all clones. Please write lots more.
