I was searching for Slytherin Harry fics and after avoiding this one for a few months, I finally caved and decided to give it a go. I'm a bit wary of it but this first chapter seems pretty decent so far. Let's see if it continues.

Very interesting! On one hand I cannot believe the way Harry was betrayed, but except for Ginny's words I can still somehow see whate everyone else was thinking. It's almost... reasonable. This is an intriguing idea for a fic, and I've heard such great things about it, so I obviously really want to keep reading. But it's hard to find Ron and Hermione's, and even Ginny's betrayals believable. I'm willing to suspend belief for Dumbledore if he really thinks it's for the greater good, for Kingsley that might feel obligated to follow the law, but it's hard to believe that Ron who was so loyal to Harry and would die for him, wouldn't just lie about the Horcrux to keep Harry safe and alive. Ron and Ginny aren't like Hermione with her to strictly follow rules and uphold the law; they would lie. Ginny knows firsthand how sneaky and evil Riddle is and might even see this as one of Riddle's tricks, and so I feel like she wouldn't hesitate to lie. Ron (and Ginny, and even all the rest of the Weasleys) know how corrupt the Ministry can be at times, and I feel like their first instinct would be to protect Harry because to them, this would have to be some sort of trick or plot, and they probably wouldn't believe this is coming from Dumbledore unless they heard it themselves. Hermione is cunning as well, despite being a stickler for the rules, and I feel like she would've avoiding answering the questions in a way that incriminated Harry, even if she'd have to lie as well. I also just feel like it's a little unbelievable that Narcissa Malfoy would be more loyal to Harry than Ron and Hermione and the Weasleys. And it feels very cliche for Neville and Luna to be more loyal to Harry than Ron and Hermione are. I'll still give reading this fic a try, cuz I really think the idea is intriguing and because I keep seeing it recommended so often, but I felt like commenting about this, since everytime I attempt to read this fic, the first chapter just feels a bit disappointing. Though I'm hoping that maybe Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Weasleys are just under the Imperius or something, and Harry couldn't tell. That would be more believable to me, I think.

I'm a bit late to review but i wish to leave a comment for this 1rst chapter.I love the idea of time travel too ! And me too i'm confused by fanfiction giving Harry an enormous amount of magical, economical and political power. It's way too much.For your story. This chapter lacks of intensity. By that I mean that the characters (and mainly Harry since we follow him) lack a bit of emotions during these life changing moments. I expected Harry to feel more anxiety during his jail time, fear and frustration during the trial and overall confusion because of what is happening. I feel like he doesn't react a lot: he doesn't try to shake off the chains, he doesn't even flinch when seeing Death for the 1rst time.Also the descriptions of the environment feel like lists of things Harry sees, so they don't set the mood (especially for the trial, what is the atmosphere at the start? tense ? curious ? both?). You don't put the words on the feelings and emotions and consequently the actions lack of impact. The scenes don't feel as important as they should be (the trial is so short ! and Harry doesn't have a lawyer :( )For the limbo part I'm a bit confused. Why Death didn't show himself the 1rst time Harry died? How can Voldemort have a complete soul when one part of it have merged with Harry's soul ? Why are the pieces in limbo if Voldemort was dead (and not where the other deads' souls are)? Why Death can't gathered himself Tom's soul (seems easier than putting back the pieces together)? Why Death can turned back time ? What can Death do and not do ?I'm a bit concerned because I'm not sure these questions will be answered later. But there is 40 more chapters, i will see.But I do like this chapter! I like how it started with Harry trying to construct his life after the war just to be betrayed by his friends. I like the idea of people being afraid of Harry being an horcrux and Dumbedore being manipulative even dead (the old quack!).To summarize my opinion: the chapter is good but lack of spices.

Interesting chapter and plot and idea

I’m sorry, I just started reading this story and I wanted to leave a comment right at this first chapter to tell you that my head conjured an image of Harry Potter holding tiny chibi Tom Riddles and I think my soul died.

Looks like a very good chapter.If there was one thing to complain about, why did Harry decided to go back to his eleventh birthday? Couldn't have he gone back earlier, much earlier to prevent his abuse and manlnutrition who contributed to his small size?Of course, there's the fact he obviously doesn't want to spend more time than necessary with the Dursley, and that he probably has an instinctive fear of them now, but things changed. He controls magic. Wandlessly if need be, and the Dursley can't do anything about that.

Um, Harry really is quite impetuous. He didn't even take time to plan anything. And why go back to 11 if he could go back to 1. He didn't even ask Death if he could save his parents or see his parents. If he went back to one and Tom is all put back together then maybe Tom wouldn't have gone after the Potters.

I do wonder if going back pre-James and Lily Potter-murders would undo the soulbit, or if he's stuck thanks to taking back what he's got now.It does bode a bit ill when you have an error in the first ten words, though ("blind sighted" should be "blindsided"). Also, " matrass" should be mattress. Otherwise, solid spelling this chapter.

First, I'm beyond pleased that this fic is properly written, good grammar and proper punctuation are a balm to my soul. Really, I've developed a horror for run-on sentences, and I'm not a grammar freak at all. Besides that, the plot is entertaining and often surprising, and the characters are just wonderful. They have experienced trauma and betrayal, and have to deal with the aftereffects. It's very human, and at times ridiculous and funny. I'm so looking forward to seeing where this all goes.

Even though Tom is so OOC, he is so well written and probably the most believable redeemed Voldemort character portrayal that I have read. I am very much looking forward to future chapters whenever you are well enough to write them. Thank you for providing all of us such great entertainment in these difficult times!!!

Can I say that the image of four mutilated baby Toms squashed all together in Harry's arms, looking at him with (how I picture it) bambi eyes, is oddly cute? Like, "extremely, I want to giggle and say awwww, and maybe take a photo if I could" kind of cute? Or I'm the weird one?

I think for Kingsley making it into harry's death trial must have been a political move. Make it as public as possible so that no one can dispute any of the charges that the ministry is trying to accuse harry of instead of, say, letting harry know what dumbledore wrote in the missive and pressure harry into sacrificing himself again. Because we all know how harry could potentially react. An accidental magic here. Defeating kingsley there. Making an escape and trying to get into hiding all over again, and this time, forever though making sure his followers would not know voldemort could potentially come back again. “No need to be scared, Tom,” Harry said as he gently picked up the baby and held it against his chest. “We’re getting a second chance, you and me both. You’ll have your full soul and I’m your horcrux and I’ll keep us both alive for as long as it takes for us both to lead full, happy lives without meddling headmasters.” Ngl, this part got me emotional. Just harry picking a mutilated baby tom saying they would get to get a second chance in life. And perhaps, get a second chance to be happy, made me recall just how much they went through that led to all of the betrayal and heartbreak...

Your notes said there would be no character bashing, yet your first chapter sees harry's friends and allies turning on him, sentencing him to death. If your goal was to destroy Harry's loyalty to his friends and the 'light side', in order to make a future union between Harry and Voldemort seem plausible, you succeed. But there are other methods to achieve this same outcome. The true traitor in this is Dumbledore, lying to Harry for so long, manipulating him 'for the greater good', basically planning to have him killed. Having Harry choose not to support/follow Dumbledore any more, and having Harry plan to exact some form of (much deserved) revenge on dumbledore, would naturally drive a wedge Harry and his friends. Lacking the information/experience of Dumbledore's betrayal, enraptured by stories of Dumbledore's greatness, sharing the same political/social beliefs of their families, abhorring the beliefs/actions of Voldemort and his followers, unable to understand Harry's own neutrality, would have said friends naturally turning against him (Harry).This is NOT a criticism of your entire story, and I'm going to keep reading because I'm interested in what you plan to have Harry do next, just my honest opinion.

As realistic and understandable as Hermione and Ron reaction were, Luna and Neville were still the best.I greatly appreciated Harry musing about Voldemort, Tom, himself and what the world deserved. I’m glad that you managed to make Harry experience the awful betrayal of his friends while still keeping Ron and Hermione in character. So many fanfics make them evil, selfish people that have been conning Harry for years when that’s just not true. I love that Tom also got his memories back alongside Harry. I am an absolute fan of the time-travel trope (I spent the last week going through the tags for it)! To see this, with no attempts to make it seem like people were hiding it or really trying to betray Harry, it makes me very optimistic to read more. I know that truly the only betrayal comes from Dumbledore, and even then it was a war leader ensuring that the enemy couldn’t return, and he would have no way of knowing that Harry would return unchanged. For all he knew, Harry could have done a complete 180 due to Tom’s soul!Sorry for the rant, it’s easier to collect my thoughts when I write them out. I look forward to seeing more!

I love this! And while it is a complete betrayal, I love that it is unhidden, reasonable, and Everyone is just swept along (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, even Kingsley). Kingsley's response is reasonable, he verifies and while Machiavellian and probably not morally correct, I can see why he chose to act that way. Similarly, Ginny is still in shell shock and probably traumatized at the idea of Toms soul being in someone else. For her it was a true possession and I cant imagine she can think rationally about it if there is no way to remove the possessor from some one else...I am actually somewhat surprised teenage tom riddle doesn't remember Harry...maybe his appearance changed quite a bit from his 12 year old self and Tom didn't register the passing time in deaths realm?I am glad that you will stick close to cannon characters as I think it is fascinating. I am particularly intrigued by how toms personality will mutate once adult tom and teen tom and all various toms are combined. Whatever will he think of sharing a soul?! I mean canonically speaking, I can't imagine he shares well... All this just to say, I am really excited to see where this one goes!

This is an intriguing idea for a fic, and I've heard such great things about it, so I obviously really want to keep reading. But it's hard to find Ron and Hermione's, and even Ginny's betrayals believable. I'm willing to suspend belief for Dumbledore if he really thinks it's for the greater good, for Kingsley that might feel obligated to follow the law, but it's hard to believe that Ron who was so loyal to Harry and would die for him, wouldn't just lie about the Horcrux to keep Harry safe and alive. Ron and Ginny aren't like Hermione with her to strictly follow rules and uphold the law; they would lie. Ginny knows firsthand how sneaky and evil Riddle is and might even see this as one of Riddle's tricks, and so I feel like she wouldn't hesitate to lie. Ron (and Ginny, and even all the rest of the Weasleys) know how corrupt the Ministry can be at times, and I feel like their first instinct would be to protect Harry because to them, this would have to be some sort of trick or plot, and they probably wouldn't believe this is coming from Dumbledore unless they heard it themselves. Hermione is cunning as well, despite being a stickler for the rules, and I feel like she would've avoiding answering the questions in a way that incriminated Harry, even if she'd have to lie as well. I also just feel like it's a little unbelievable that Narcissa Malfoy would be more loyal to Harry than Ron and Hermione and the Weasleys. And it feels very cliche for Neville and Luna to be more loyal to Harry than Ron and Hermione are. I'll still give reading this fic a try, cuz I really think the idea is intriguing and because I keep seeing it recommended so often, but I felt like commenting about this, since everytime I attempt to read this fic, the first chapter just feels a bit disappointing. Though I'm hoping that maybe Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Weasleys are just under the Imperius or something, and Harry couldn't tell. That would be more believable to me, I think.

I'm a bit late to review but i wish to leave a comment for this 1rst chapter.I love the idea of time travel too ! And me too i'm confused by fanfiction giving Harry an enormous amount of magical, economical and political power. It's way too much.For your story. This chapter lacks of intensity. By that I mean that the characters (and mainly Harry since we follow him) lack a bit of emotions during these life changing moments. I expected Harry to feel more anxiety during his jail time, fear and frustration during the trial and overall confusion because of what is happening. I feel like he doesn't react a lot: he doesn't try to shake off the chains, he doesn't even flinch when seeing Death for the 1rst time.Also the descriptions of the environment feel like lists of things Harry sees, so they don't set the mood (especially for the trial, what is the atmosphere at the start? tense ? curious ? both?). You don't put the words on the feelings and emotions and consequently the actions lack of impact. The scenes don't feel as important as they should be (the trial is so short ! and Harry doesn't have a lawyer :( )For the limbo part I'm a bit confused. Why Death didn't show himself the 1rst time Harry died? How can Voldemort have a complete soul when one part of it have merged with Harry's soul ? Why are the pieces in limbo if Voldemort was dead (and not where the other deads' souls are)? Why Death can't gathered himself Tom's soul (seems easier than putting back the pieces together)? Why Death can turned back time ? What can Death do and not do ?I'm a bit concerned because I'm not sure these questions will be answered later. But there is 40 more chapters, i will see.But I do like this chapter! I like how it started with Harry trying to construct his life after the war just to be betrayed by his friends. I like the idea of people being afraid of Harry being an horcrux and Dumbedore being manipulative even dead (the old quack!).To summarize my opinion: the chapter is good but lack of spices.

I’m sorry, I just started reading this story and I wanted to leave a comment right at this first chapter to tell you that my head conjured an image of Harry Potter holding tiny chibi Tom Riddles and I think my soul died.

Looks like a very good chapter.If there was one thing to complain about, why did Harry decided to go back to his eleventh birthday? Couldn't have he gone back earlier, much earlier to prevent his abuse and manlnutrition who contributed to his small size?Of course, there's the fact he obviously doesn't want to spend more time than necessary with the Dursley, and that he probably has an instinctive fear of them now, but things changed. He controls magic. Wandlessly if need be, and the Dursley can't do anything about that.

Um, Harry really is quite impetuous. He didn't even take time to plan anything. And why go back to 11 if he could go back to 1. He didn't even ask Death if he could save his parents or see his parents. If he went back to one and Tom is all put back together then maybe Tom wouldn't have gone after the Potters.

Interesting time-travel/fix-it story idea. Sad when the Light seems worse than the Dark. Tom just wants to kill someone threatening his own survival. Dumbledore's plans are worse because they're a betrayal of someone who trusted him.

I'm still really loving your writing. I just wanted to let you know that I get so excited that I've tried to leave kudos 7 or 8 times and it just keeps reminding me I can only do so once, but that joy and appreciation of your writing is there.

The idea of Voldemort getting a free memory copy in a HP Peggy Sue fic is one I haven't seen before, which surprises me, for as soon as I read it, though, it made sense, what with Scarcrux. I wonder why he chose to bring Voldemort back like that, but "petty revenge" is a pretty obvious answer. I do wonder if going back pre-James and Lily Potter-murders would undo the soulbit, or if he's stuck thanks to taking back what he's got now.It does bode a bit ill when you have an error in the first ten words, though ("blind sighted" should be "blindsided"). Also, " matrass" should be mattress. Otherwise, solid spelling this chapter.

First, I'm beyond pleased that this fic is properly written, good grammar and proper punctuation are a balm to my soul. Really, I've developed a horror for run-on sentences, and I'm not a grammar freak at all. Besides that, the plot is entertaining and often surprising, and the characters are just wonderful. They have experienced trauma and betrayal, and have to deal with the aftereffects. It's very human, and at times ridiculous and funny. I'm so looking forward to seeing where this all goes.

Okay, I'm finally starting this and I'm hella intrigued by both the concept and the execution so far. It's just plausible enough to where I can see this being in the vein of canon, and I'm excited for the future chapters. Also, the image of little Toms following around Harry is kinda cute lol

Oh my goodness!! This first chapter is DELIGHTFUL! I can't tell you how much I loved the image of baby Toms squashed together in Harry's arms. I love this iteration of Death, he's so chill and gently amused.

I think for Kingsley making it into harry's death trial must have been a political move. Make it as public as possible so that no one can dispute any of the charges that the ministry is trying to accuse harry of instead of, say, letting harry know what dumbledore wrote in the missive and pressure harry into sacrificing himself again. Because we all know how harry could potentially react. An accidental magic here. Defeating kingsley there. Making an escape and trying to get into hiding all over again, and this time, forever though making sure his followers would not know voldemort could potentially come back again. “No need to be scared, Tom,” Harry said as he gently picked up the baby and held it against his chest. “We’re getting a second chance, you and me both. You’ll have your full soul and I’m your horcrux and I’ll keep us both alive for as long as it takes for us both to lead full, happy lives without meddling headmasters.” Ngl, this part got me emotional. Just harry picking a mutilated baby tom saying they would get to get a second chance in life. And perhaps, get a second chance to be happy, made me recall just how much they went through that led to all of the betrayal and heartbreak...

Your notes said there would be no character bashing, yet your first chapter sees harry's friends and allies turning on him, sentencing him to death. If your goal was to destroy Harry's loyalty to his friends and the 'light side', in order to make a future union between Harry and Voldemort seem plausible, you succeed. But there are other methods to achieve this same outcome. The true traitor in this is Dumbledore, lying to Harry for so long, manipulating him 'for the greater good', basically planning to have him killed. Having Harry choose not to support/follow Dumbledore any more, and having Harry plan to exact some form of (much deserved) revenge on dumbledore, would naturally drive a wedge Harry and his friends. Lacking the information/experience of Dumbledore's betrayal, enraptured by stories of Dumbledore's greatness, sharing the same political/social beliefs of their families, abhorring the beliefs/actions of Voldemort and his followers, unable to understand Harry's own neutrality, would have said friends naturally turning against him (Harry).This is NOT a criticism of your entire story, and I'm going to keep reading because I'm interested in what you plan to have Harry do next, just my honest opinion.

He truly knew himself and was thinking things throught, I loved this insight into his character, it showed both his strenght and his kindness.

I’m glad that you managed to make Harry experience the awful betrayal of his friends while still keeping Ron and Hermione in character. So many fanfics make them evil, selfish people that have been conning Harry for years when that’s just not true. I love that Tom also got his memories back alongside Harry. I am an absolute fan of the time-travel trope (I spent the last week going through the tags for it)! To see this, with no attempts to make it seem like people were hiding it or really trying to betray Harry, it makes me very optimistic to read more. I know that truly the only betrayal comes from Dumbledore, and even then it was a war leader ensuring that the enemy couldn’t return, and he would have no way of knowing that Harry would return unchanged. For all he knew, Harry could have done a complete 180 due to Tom’s soul!Sorry for the rant, it’s easier to collect my thoughts when I write them out. I look forward to seeing more!

I love this! And while it is a complete betrayal, I love that it is unhidden, reasonable, and Everyone is just swept along (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, even Kingsley). Kingsley's response is reasonable, he verifies and while Machiavellian and probably not morally correct, I can see why he chose to act that way. Similarly, Ginny is still in shell shock and probably traumatized at the idea of Toms soul being in someone else. For her it was a true possession and I cant imagine she can think rationally about it if there is no way to remove the possessor from some one else...I am actually somewhat surprised teenage tom riddle doesn't remember Harry...maybe his appearance changed quite a bit from his 12 year old self and Tom didn't register the passing time in deaths realm?I am glad that you will stick close to cannon characters as I think it is fascinating. I am particularly intrigued by how toms personality will mutate once adult tom and teen tom and all various toms are combined. Whatever will he think of sharing a soul?! I mean canonically speaking, I can't imagine he shares well... All this just to say, I am really excited to see where this one goes!
