I like it! The caps work well for Soldier as a proper name. It helps to emphasize the Winter Soldier as how he identifies himself. Can't wait to see how this works out overall however; I suspect that Tony is going to end up with some serious skills. And not just of the genius engineer kind of skills.

What a cool idea! This fandom, guys. This. Fandom. I do like the depersonalization of "soldier" as an identity; it gives a nice contrast for his internal panic attack when he accidentally identifies himself as a person later. (And, oh- doesn't that just sound depressing.) I'm also really looking forward to some kid!Tony! I liked his improvised pen-weapon earlier (because let's face it- anyone who tries to kidnap a Tony Stark SHOULD have to worry about improvised weaponry), but I also like how he's very much a tired, scared, kinda-bratty little kid, too (rather than mini!Iron-man).Love the idea to death, and can't wait to see what happens next!

Oh, this is a wonderful alternate series of events! If you ever feel inspired, I would love to see some version of Avengers or Winter Soldier that builds off of this universe. The idea of Bucky/Winter Soldier being on their side from the beginning, or of Steve walking into the Helicarrier in Avengers already suspicious, is a wonderfully fun thought. And this was a lovely way to pass the time while I wait for the latest chapter of Vice Versa or Prisoner's Dilemma. *puppy dog eyes* updates? Please?

OKAY BUT!!! I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION!!***POSSIBLE CIVIL WAR SPOILERS AHEAD*** everyone after civil war is like "wow what a twist, we had no idea it was gonna be tony's parents that the accident flashback was of bucky's mission" but like AS SOON AS I SAW IT at the beginning of the movie i was like omg that's gonna be tony's parents!! and then i was like why do i think that?? and remembered it was because of this fic and then convinced myself it wasnt going to be that BUT THEN IT WAS so my question is just was this a canon thing that happens somewhere or did you just accidentally write a huge civil war plot twist years before they actually wrote it into the movie??

OMG I love it instantly:) annnd it's so cute for him to keep asking for Jarvis(jarvis!!) even though that's probably related to howard's bad parenting...i'm such a hopeless Jarny fan lol

The next day, the Soldier steals a car from the business next door. In the parking lot, Tony tries to bolt from him. He is easily caught.Tony shrieks and stabs at the Soldier with a pen he'd taken apart and remade into a sharp object.He is quite intelligent, not only to make an improvised weapon, but to keep it out of the Soldier's notice until now. The Soldier admires it for a moment before he tosses it away.Then he belts a struggling Tony into the back seat, ties his ankles together with his own shoelaces, and drives away.Through the day, Tony's rebellion develops into full blown tantrums."I wanna go home! Take me home now! I WANT JARVIS!" he screams, beating his fists on the back of the Soldier's seat. "Now! Now! Now! NOW!"But the Soldier is unmoved, and after several hours Tony drops into sullen silence.They stick to the back roads.By the third day the boy must realize his questions about his parents whereabouts won't be answered. Nor will the Soldier say where they are going (he doesn't know -- only away). It doesn't stop him from asking about anything and everything."Why do we change cars every day? How come you wear a glove on one hand? Can we eat? I'm hungry. I want hamburgers. Can I see Jarvis now? When are we stopping? Why do you have makeup under your eyes? I need to tinkle. Can we stop? Why are we driving, wouldn't taking the jet be faster?"Finally the Soldier says, "There are bad people following us. We must get away from them and keep out of sight. I'm keeping you safe.""What's your name?" Tony shoots back."Bucky."The word slips out, unbidden, and startling him so badly he nearly yanks the car off the road.Tony starts to cry again, fearful, perhaps, of being in another car accident.The Soldier clutches the steering wheel so hard the metal arm dents it. His heart is thundering in his chest and he doesn't know why.----I'm gripping the edge of my seat, poor little Tony. But I'm glad Bucky is saving him, the feels!

I haven't gotten very far in this at all, but I'd just like to say that I'm kind of relieved that Tony's being bratty and difficult. I've read a few stories where someone emotionally crippled semi-adopts a child (read: kidnaps for their own good) and the child is just... weirdly trusting? Unrealistically sweet? Which is, yeah, cute, but it seems to highlight a lack of understanding about how kids actually ARE that's incredibly irritating to me. Like yeah, sometimes they'll do stuff like run away from home that you can present in the story as logical and heartbreaking and very easy for the parental figure to brush aside, but sometimes kids will ALSO get frustrated and 'act difficult' and that's also something they can't quite help that's hard to present in that naive 'oh look at the lil weeaboo and feel so bad for the baby' context. idk how much sense i'm making but anyways yeah. I like how you present baby stark and I have high hopes for the rest of the story and it's promising characterization. <3
