I think Tony is actually pretty good at being vengeful, but he saves it for irredeemable villains. People like Barnes who show genuine remorse for their crimes wouldn't get the Stark Royal Rampage of Revenge.

Tony being happy, appreciated and loved is my jam, that he takes the time out of his day to read Iron Man fan letters makes my heart want to burst. Tony as a Bond villain is hilarious, except I don’t remember any of them being anymore three dimensional than the Rogues. Wonder how long until Rhodey gets to hear ‘but it was your idea’ as a defense for courting the Winter Soldier...’s friendship. Who’s going to figure out the boys are falling for each other first?Just don’t let Bucky overhear ‘Tony, you gotta knock it off, this revenge plot has gone too far’ from the New Avengers. Or if he does, at least have Tony imediately jump to Bucky’s defence before he can disappear. Please don’t break our cinnamon rolls’ hearts.Of course, if the Rogues try ambushing Tony & Bucky to say the same thing it could be hilarious. Bucky just staring at them with disgust & Tony: ‘oh, yeah, totally would have gone with a Bond villain plot to destroy my arch nemesis ::rolls eyes::, but the store was out of fluffy white cats, so I had to go with plan B: be a decent human being’. Then the pair high five & walk off, leaving the idiots to the mercy of the public / New Avengers... unless they decide to flaunt their couple status (real or fake/pending) to twist the proverbial knife first. Though to be honest I could be bought for an IM phone, but I'm a weak, weak human being.I love fics where Tony doesn't buckle under the Rogue Avengers or lets the politicians dictate that he has to house, fed, and generally be their personal punching bag. Cause seriously that boy took down his supposed father figure, refused to lay down wait for death quietly, he invited a terrorist to his home, he carried a freaking nuke on his damn back. He damn well stepped up and took responsibility like a damn adult. So yeah, that precious boy has the spine to tell the Rogues to go take a long jump off a cliff and to buy their own damn things like normal members of society, I believe it was ever a working practice in the 1940s. Ok I think my rant is over. I'm still salty and I just found out my best friend is a firm Team Cap supporter. You think you know someone, then they rip your heart out and stomp on your trust. WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!Tony is actually quite good at revenge, but I can't see him really aiming that power at an apologetic Barnes who isn't doing anything bad and who's quite messed up. I'm not surprised Barnes is a wreck, Rogers has no understanding of mental health (and let's face it, Rogers is a mess himself. Someone functional wouldn't have lost it when Rumlow mentioned Bucky. Rogers even admitted it.) Wilson enables him. Barton and Romanov wouldn't be much use, and Maximoff? Please. Nobody would be thinking that a person who's been a POW for seven decades needs serious psychiatric help, and even if they did, who would be willing to buck Rogers to help him get it?
