Coming back to this after Volume 2 because i’m heartbroken and need my byler heart fixed. I’m begging the duffer brothers to PLEASE SOMEHOW in the 2 remaining hours to have a Mike pov and reveal that he was never Will’s Tammy, because the analogy just makes no sense in my brain. How did we go from Will having the basically rejection arc and conflicting inside feelings in season 4 to Will asking robin how to know if someone wants to DATE (mwtfdyd gate) to Mike being in the film reel and his LOVE for him UNLOCKING WILLS POWERS to the most wholesome enamored hug between them at the beginning of ep. 5 TO WILL COMING OUT TO A WHOLE ROOM OF RANDOM ASS PEOPLE AND SAYING MIKE IS HIS TAMMY. As you can tell i’m pissed because we could have had a beautiful queer story and it was borderline butchered, like yeah its nice that will came out but even if byler wasnt canon and it was a rejection/self acceptance story the coming out part or rejection part of it could have been so much more fulfilling. Anyway, i have hope that somehow in the 2 hours remaining painting gate will happen and they will have a happy ending, realizing mike was never will’s tammy (Sorry for the rant and btw this fic is beautiful and amazing and curing all my sadness thank u for writing it)

i genuinely feel so much emotion reading this. this chapter hits so hard for me personally; i had my own experience like mike and will did.. having a best friend, and then confessing but the other wasn’t ready, so things became awkward and we just never talked anymore. this fic reminds me so much of me and her, and seeing them like this just breaks my heart. and the writing is so phenomenal because it captures the feeling of this type of situation perfectly! wow i can’t wait to finish this! i hope they get the happy ending others couldn’t :)

yes yes yearning is amazing and they are written so exceptionally wonderfully, and this fic made me breathless more times than I could count and "are you gonna take what you want" and lingering touches and touching the empty bed and having so many feelings you cannot fit them in — all these things are amazing. but. but. loving was isolating for boys like will. the last two chapters, with all the thoughts about what it is to be a gay person in the society. to have these feelings. to live with them. I don't think I've ever felt so seen like this before. I don't think I've ever felt so understood. and it's not even 80s anymore. life sucks for people like us, and all we can do is find people whose life sucks just exactly like ours, so our common suffering is shared and therefore seems lesser. this is what I will take with me after finishing reading it. and maybe it's obvious. maybe I know it already. maybe I'm already living my life like this. but life has a habit of catching up with you life makes a habit of making you forget things, important things, under all the mandane ones. so this was a nice reminder. very fucking nice. thank you for writing this story. thank you for all the things I've mentioned above, and thank you for the reminder. fuck, it was needed.
